James Murray has joined BHB Consulting Engineers as a Project Engineer. Murray received his M.S. in Civil from the University of Utah in 2010. Previously he worked as a structural engineer where he developed a solution for saving a hospital from condemnation due to fire damage. He also researched and engineered the green design of a restaurant in Springdale, Utah. His experience and commitment to his education make him a great asset to BHB.

Travis R. Brackus - Project Engineers

Dane Huggard - Project Engineer

Dane E. Huggard has joined BHB's team as a Project Engineer. In August 2009 he graduated from Brigham Young University with a M.S. in Civil Engineering. While in school Huggard had the opportunity to participate in a China Mega Structures Study Abroad. He was given the opportunity to present his Masters Research paper at the 14th Annual World Conference on Earthquake Engineering in Beijing, China. He also brings to the table four years of engineering experience. His achievements and involvement in his education, as well as experience, make him an asset to BHB.

Murray City School District Seismic Evaluations

Increase Number- Licensed Professional Engineers

BHB Engineers has increased its number of licensed professional engineers. This February, Nathan Miller and Dallin Pedersen recieved their Utah Professional Engineering License. Miller has worked for BHB for eight years, starting his career as a drafter, and upon completeing his education was promoted to an engineer. He graduated in 2007 with a Master's of Science in Civil Engineering from Utah State University. He strives to create concise and economical designs, and understands learning is essential to provide the best service and design. Pedersen has worked for BHB for five years as a project engineer. He graduated in 2009 with a Master's of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Utah. He strives to provide accurate drawings that will allow the contractor to work as efficiently as possible. Accuracy in design and courtesy in customer service are his main goals. Miller and Pedersen's achievements make for a total of eleven licensed professional engineers.

Food Drive

Every year during the first week of December, BHB hosts a food drive in our office for the Utah Food Bank. This year's food drive was a huge success. We suggested items to be brought in each day of the week and the employees were quick to respond. 470 pounds of food was donated to the Utah Food Bank thanks to the generosity and response of the staff.

Holiday Party 2010

BHB employees got a little competitive at this year's holiday party. The party was held at the Horizon Financial Center in Sandy, UT. There were two main events for the evening; a gingerbread house competition and the baby picture guessing game. We were also served dinner and pie.

The biggest event of the evening was probably the gingerbread house competition. Each table was a team and each team was given a box of supplies to build their house; graham crackers, three colors of frosting, candy and a chocolate Santa to put on top. The goal was to build a house that was at least 20" tall, was structurally sound and was pleasing to the eye. In a room full of structural engineers, the competition for the most structurally sound got pretty heated. To test the structure of each house, they were set on a vibrating table on different speeds to see how long they would hold up. It was a fun competition and night.
